Day Sixteen Forty Days of Focus: Relationships

What do you do when you want your plants to grow healthy? First you make sure the soil is right. It is also important to make certain that the watering is regular and of the right amount. There cannot be too much sun or too much shade. Weeds will need to be pulled so they don't overwhelm the good plants. We've all seen plants die because they were not cared for properly. You've also seen healthy gardens full of deep green leaves and thriving from good care. Marriages are not very different from gardens. The right soil might represent the good character that the marriage partners have cultivated long before they met. The water could be representative of the love that is poured out day after day. Too much sun might be like a marriage that has too much passion while the shade could represent too little on the passion meter. Weeds are things that crowd out the attention of husbands and wives. But then there's the fertilizer. Date night is like miracle grow for marriages. Women love to be cherished. They want to be wined and dined. It's part of what they loved about dating. It's also one of their favorite parts about being married. At least once each week, husbands need to take their wives on a date. It doesn't need to be expensive, but it does need to be thoughtful and intentional. Guys, treat your women like the precious jewels they are. If you do, your marriage will thrive.
